Another hot and sunny day with a high of 31c and no wind. We headed for the beach and walked along the breakers enjoying the cold Atlantic water covering our feet. After a leisurely breakfast we decided to go on a hike up Lions Head Mountain, the mountain we look at every day from our balcony. It takes about an hour from the start to make it to the top. Of course we got there around 1:30, the hottest time of the day so we took lots of water with us. The majority of the hike is steep but easy going as you start from a dirt road, move onto rock steps before hitting the steep section which is very narrow and you are climbing over boulders. There is a section with chains and another with a ladder to help you navigate your way up the mountain. The big attraction is the views as you wind your way up and around the mountain you are looking down at Camps Bay, the Atlantic Ocean, Cape Town, Table Mountain and The 12 Apostles. We made it up and down in just under two hours, then drove to Signal Hill to get more views of the area before heading home and a welcome shower before heading out to dinner.

Taking a stroll along busy Camps Bay beach to cool off from the heat
At the start of the hike up the 669m (2,195 ft) Lions Head Mountain
Wonderful view of the town of Camps Bay and the 12 Apostle Mountain Range
It's starting to get tricky as Rita climbs the ladder to get over a big boulder
Most of Cape Town and Table Bay spread out below us
The trail is getting narrow and very steep with quite the intimidating drop off
Very happy to be at the top to take a breath and enjoy the spectacular views
